The human voice has always fascinated me – how a simple shift in tone can reveal hidden truths, how words can both liberate and constrain us, and how finding our authentic voice can transform our entire way of being. This fascination has led me on a journey through multiple languages, cultures, and forms of expression, always seeking to understand the deeper patterns in how we communicate and connect.
Writing became my way of exploring these patterns. Whether I’m examining the subtle power dynamics in political speech, uncovering the hidden stories in everyday conversations, or helping others find their own voice, I’m driven by a deep curiosity about how we shape our reality through language and communication.
My fascination with the human voice has been a constant thread throughout my career. As a voice teacher and researcher, I’ve spent years studying how our voices shape our presence, influence, and personal power. This expertise led to my column at The Huffington Post (Spain edition), where I analyzed political leaders’ voices and executive presence, revealing the subtle ways voice patterns reflect and affect power dynamics.
This fascination with human nature – our capacity for both growth and stagnation – drives my work. In my novel Deformación A Rotura [Breaking Point in Spanish] I explore how people can become entrenched in their own narratives, choosing familiar patterns over growth and forward movement.
My latest book Unfolding Your Mind: Notes on Ghosts, Power, and the Self continues this exploration of human complexity. Through my writing, teaching, and research, I examine how our voices – both literal and metaphorical – can either open new possibilities or keep us confined in comfortable bubbles. Each book, each conversation, each discovery reveals new layers of understanding about who we are, who we resist becoming, and who we might choose to be.
