#555 – What will you drop to become more like yourself?

“The beauty of the mountain is that it’s so much like a mountain.” ––Chinese saying.

What choices would you make if your sole purpose were to become more like yourself?

In the last few years, I’ve realized that exchanging time and talent for money isn’t what life is about. Maybe living in full alignment with my inner being is. Then my feet hit the ground and I realize that I still need to bring in income to live in this world.

So I’ve been job hunting.

Yesterday I got an offer for a sales position; this morning, a request came in for a follow-up interview for a translator role in healthcare. And today, I did one more interview (for a communication strategist role at a renowned financial institution).

As I went through the interviews, it surprised me to notice that I felt more like myself (more alive) while learning about the sales role.

But then, thinking of updating my LinkedIn profile with that new title, I got a feeling of ugh! Like it wasn’t prestigious enough. Of course, my Ego and Ghost of Misplaced Shame were gnawing at my ear, “what will so and so think of you?”

“To accept the offer or not to accept it,” I was thinking on my way to the gym, when the speaker on the podcast I had on said, “The beauty of the mountain is that it’s so much like a mountain.”

I realized my discomfort came from feeling I needed to appear a certain way. Instead of allowing myself to be, I was preemptively assessing what other people would think––and assuming they wouldn’t approve of my choice. Which is irrelevant to my wellbeing.

So, if my only purpose is to be so much like myself––to be fully aligned with my Self––what is the resonant choice for me now? (Stay tuned!)

What will you choose once you make being “so much like yourself” your purpose?

Love,

Carolina
