When you own a house and want your heating/ac bill to stay reasonable, you check all the potential sources of leakage and drafts.
But how often do you become aware of when your energy is leaking and why?
My son’s birth was programed, precisely at 42.5 weeks. After a long day walking around the hospital, they hooked me to the famous “gels” to induce labor, and gave me an epidural.
Once it was time to push, the first dose of the anesthesia had sort of worn off and the pain became noticeable. But only a handful of staff was working that night (Christmas Eve in Madrid) and the only anesthesiologist was attending a C-section, so there wasn’t a way I could get another dose.
Then an extraordinarily painful contraction came, and I started to weep. Instantly, I sensed that weeping diminished my ability to breathe as I’d learned to, and to stay focused. I also felt it weakened my muscles.
Wanting to stay strong for the most important experience of my life, I chose to stop weeping and directed all my energy towards my labor.
It worked: 20 minutes later, my son was born. The midwife later told me the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, and hadn’t I breathed and pushed with such determination, I would’ve needed a C-section.
My point is: only when you protect your energy instead of letting it be drained out of you in things that don’t matter or solve anything, can you focus on what’s important.
What energy leaks will you seal so that you can focus on what matters?
Love,
