#548 – What can you learn from feeling free?

When you feel good, you’re in total connection with who you are. You’re not posturing, pleasing others, or hiding. You’re just being your Self.

I call that freedom.

Yesterday I tidied up my apartment to show it to potential renters. While waiting for them, I noticed how good the clean, organized space made me feel, and asked myself why.

The word “free” came to mind, and I inquired further.

I realized that free is what I’m supposed to feel, because that’s my inner being’s natural state.

But I’m not always connected to my inner being. When that happens, I don’t feel as free; I fear that my behavior will put me in danger. Then, I tone myself down, measure my words, strategize my actions.

I put a mask over my self.

I’ve felt that in certain work interactions. When I tried to fulfill other people’s expectations of me, smiled when I didn’t feel like smiling, acquiesced to things I wanted to reject, or even drank things I didn’t want to drink. Just to not rock the proverbial boat.

That’s lack of assertiveness, which isn’t weakness; it’s fear coming from not being aligned with who we really are.

When you’re aligned with who you really are, you can stand your ground without aggressiveness or exaggerated agreeableness, because, knowing you’ve nothing to fear, you don’t feel threatened.

When you’re aligned, you’re assertive. Anything and everything you do, say, or feel is true. You find resonance in your decisions because they’re coming from your inner being, your authentic self. You feel expansive, comfortable, at peace.

Because you’re free. When you use that feeling to guide you, becoming who you’re meant to be is inevItable.

Where in your life will you use your freedom compass?

Love,

Carolina
