#28–Is your effort paying off?

What would you think of a system that uses 1,000 times more resources than the results it produces?

That it’s inefficient, wasteful, and unsustainable.

Well, that’s how a lot of (wishful) entrepreneurs view working in their business: let’s put everything we’ve got into the system and hope that it gives us something in return.

Haunted by the Ghost of Exertion/Exhaustion, we keep going, going, going, despite the lackluster results we’re getting.

Because, as our business coaches and consultants tell us, “it’ll pay off.” Eventually.

What they don’t say is when exactly this “eventually” will become the “now.”

So we keep hoping. Exerting ourselves.

But because it’s unsustainable, we reach a point where we can no longer sustain the effort: the point of exhaustion.

The other way is to measure our ROE (Return On Effort) sooner. If we analyze it without the Ghost of Exertion/Exhaustion breathing down our necks, we may decide that the best decision is to quit.

That’s what I did.

In what area is hope keeping you overworked and under-fulfilled?

Love,

Carolina
